Governor’s Square Mall Set for Major Renovation

For nearly 18 years, Governor’s Square Mall has looked much the way it does today. All that is about to change. Beginning next month, work will commence on a multi-million-dollar renovation that will transform the look and feel of the mall. Plans call for new ceilings and skylights, new carpeting and porcelain tile flooring, refreshed public restrooms, energy-efficient lighting, heating and cooling improvements, a fresh, contemporary design for mall entrances and signage, new landscaping, upgraded soft-seating areas and other customer amenities. The renovation will complement the addition of a new food court that was constructed in 2010.

The vast majority of the work will take place in the overnight hours, when the mall is usually closed for business. Protective barriers will cover storefronts to keep out dust. Every morning, around dawn, construction crews will roll up the barriers, clean up debris and make the mall ready for customers. Mall merchants will not lose a single day of business throughout the process. The project is scheduled to be finished in late October, in time for the holiday shopping season. A Grand Reopening Celebration is planned for mid-November.

“We’re excited about this project.” said Anthony Cafaro, Jr., Co-President of the mall’s parent company. “We’re investing in this complex in a major way because our merchants and our loyal customers in the Clarksville area deserve a shopping environment that is modern, comfortable and beautiful.”
